It is not suggested that you put gold plated flatware through a dishwasher because the wash is too rough for the delicate surface. Wash the utensils by hand if you want them to last for a very long time. Never use a Brillo pad or steel wool on gold plated flatware, as this can scratch the gold plating. Wash your gold plated flatware immediately after use with mild soap. Don't leave food and other items on the surfaces as they can eat away at the gold.

August 8th....I have been looking everywhere for a gold trimmed silverware set to go with my formal dining set. I didn't want to spend too much because I only plan to use this set for special occasions. When they arrived (very quickly) I was impressed with both the quality and the size of the set. The serving set is huge! I can't imagine how much I would have spent if I had bought these pieces seperately. The pieces are heavier and sturdier than I expected. I also liked that the gold plating is subtle and not too brassy.
